IRO will be paying a lot of attention to employment and education in the coming years. It is generally known that many of our members encounter more and more difficulties to fill up their vacancies and to avoid an exodus of employees.
Because of a shared significance IRO and NOGEPA (Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Association) have decided to join forces and therefore a new specialised staff member is assigned to manage the ‘Education & Employment Project’. The spearhead action of this project is to
- extend and improve education possibilities for the upstream oil and gas industry;
- to create interest amongst young people for education and jobs in this industry and
- to stimulate retraining of experienced workers from other branches of industry.
An important activity in the initiative phase of this project was the investigation of demands of our members. Another step was to make an inventory of all the existing (most) technical studies in this area and to point out any gaps. read more...
