Ampelmann, a leader in the provision of safe offshore access to the global energy industries, was presented with an OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award for its innovative N-type gangway system on Monday April 30th. As the only motion-compensated gangway system of its kind in operation, the N-type ‘Icemann’ enables safe people transfer year-round in harsh winter conditions up to -28°C/18°F. The fully enclosed and insulated system is operational in sea states up to 3.5 metres significant wave height and comprises active motion compensation.
The OTC Spotlight on New Technology Awards recognizes the latest and most advanced technologies that are transforming the global oil and gas industry.
Ampelmann Chief Financial Officer, Marcel Luijten and former Project Manager Icemann, Arjan Verschoor collected the award at a ceremony in Houston attended by industry peers. Mr. Luijten commented: “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our engineering teams, which continue to develop innovative solutions for the global Walk to Work market.”

Ampelmann is exhibiting at OTC 2018 from 30 April – 3 May on at the Dutch Pavilion, NRG Park, Houston, Texas. The OTC hosts the meeting at the NRG Park which has over 60,000 attendees from around the world to see the latest technology in the energy industry and the conference is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary.
