Atlas Aberdeen launches their new Technical Greenhand Programme

Following the success of their Greenhand Roustabout Programme, Atlas Professionals, Aberdeen are expanding the existing Programme to technical greenhand positions from May 2022.

Leading recruitment company, Atlas Professionals, is now accepting applications for its newly launched Technical Greenhand Programme, with the first training day set for May 20th , 2022. Qualifying trades include Motorman, Mechanic / Assistant Mechanic, Electrician / Assistant Electrician and Assistant Crane Operator.

This follows from the already established Greenhand Roustabout Programme, that has seen significant success with over 250 roustabouts starting their offshore career through the Programme. Alex Palla, North Sea Drilling Team Lead for Atlas Professionals says, “The demand for skilled, competent technical positions in the North Sea is on the rise. We believe in being pro-active and think this is the ideal time to start focusing on introducing new technically talented professionals to the sector. The Greenhand Roustabout Programme has assisted many of our professionals in the past to commence their offshore career and we hope to achieve this success with the technical positions too”.

To meet the criteria for attending a Technical Greenhand Training Day, candidates must have relevant onshore experience and at least one of the following certificates:
• Electrician / Assistant Electrician: Trade Papers, Compex, 18th Edition, City and Guild, Lv
3 NVQ
• Mechanic / Assistant Mechanic / Motorman: City and Guild, Trade Papers, NVQ Lv 3, CoC
OOW
• Assistant Crane Operator: Crane Op Stage 2

The Technical Greenhand Programme is free of charge, with one of the key components being the training day – the first of which will be held on Friday, May 20 at a training provider in Aberdeen. The training day focuses around vital aspects of offshore work. Mark McDonald, Senior HSEQ Advisor at Atlas Professionals, explains, “We brief them about the certifications required, dos and don’ts, shift patterns and rig recreational information. Safety has been the topmost priority for Atlas. Our training day also includes a session on protection against hand and finger injuries, prevention of dropped objects, in the line of fire, major accident events, LOTO and STOP work authority is explained. This training gives our Greenhands the best chance to succeed and ensure that they come back injury free from their place of work.”
