The Province of South Holland has announced the intended contract award to Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) for a sub-project of the so-called RijnlandRoute. The total value of the contract is more than EUR 100 million. The final contract award is expected to take place at the end of April.
The RijnlandRoute is a new East-West road connection from Katwijk to the A4 motorway near Leiden in the Netherlands. The road addresses the current traffic congestion in the region. In the context of the RijnlandRoute, Boskalis will widen an existing road, construct a submerged section over a length of nearly two kilometers, construct two grade-separated crossings and construct and replace various bridges. Furthermore, Boskalis will also be responsible for the 10-year maintenance of the road.
Boskalis will apply a large number of its own specialisms in the execution of the project, including civil concrete construction, dry earthmoving and Boskalis subsidiary Cofra will carry out soil improvement work. The activities will commence mid-2019 and are expected to be completed by mid-2022.
