With the addition of more Water Ballast Treatment systems through its fleet, Heerema Marine Contractors further takes its responsibility in minimizing the environmental effects of global shipping. Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is selected as a partner for supporting Heerema by implementing these ballast treatment systems in their existing assets. The large capacity demand of water ballast is one of the challenges for these projects, so Vuyk is excited to be involved. An engineering package will be prepared for each of the vessels, varying from semi-submersible crane vessels to offshore pontoons.

For Vuyk, this is one of the services that is covered by the Vuyk GREEN design solutions program. This program embraces multiple subjects such as Energy efficiency, Emissions and Pollution and Environmental legislation. Part of this program is the implementation of legislation for water ballast management on board vessels. Another key topic is the investigation of the energy of the future, including both fossil fuels and other energy sources.
