IRO member in the spotlight: Alleima

Through a short interview we would like to put our highly valued IRO members in the spotlight. This time we get to know Alleima in a personal interview with Dyon Hermsen, Sales Manager Benelux.

What do you excel in?

Alleima is a leading manufacturer of high value-added tubes in advanced stainless steels and special alloys. Founded in 1862 as Sandvikens Jernverk in Sweden, we develop materials such as duplex grades, high nickel and temperature grades, titanium, and zirconium for advanced processes and applications in the most demanding industries.

Alleima hydraulic and instrumentation tubes are used in high temperature, pressure, and extreme processes. Our heat exchanger tubes are proven to withstand the most challenging heat transfers and our high-temperature tubes are suitable for applications above 500°Celsius. Steel melting and hollows are made in Sweden while our Dutch distribution facilities are in Venlo.

We have a continuous commitment to developing new materials such as Sanicro® 35, a super-austenitic alloy that combines the best features of super-austenitic stainless steel and more expensive nickel grades.

What convinced you to become a member?

We are proud of our long and strong history of supporting Dutch industry and offshore energy. Onshore, we provide the Dutch chemical industry with duplex and stainless steels tubes and pipes to transport corrosive liquids or gases. Our Sanicro® nickel alloys and high-alloy austenitic stainless steel materials were chosen by Dutch company SCW Systems for the first industrial reactor for the thermochemical process of supercritical water gasification.

What do you have to offer other members?

Raised productivity. More efficient energy production. Renewable technologies. Reduced environmental impact. Lighter materials. Alleima has in-depth expertise in materials technology, metallurgy, and industrial processes to move our Dutch customers forward. Developing ground-breaking alloys is at the heart of our business. Our fully integrated production flow and value chain from R&D, melting to end product, ensures we deliver consistent quality and full traceability.

How does Alleima contribute to the energy transition?

Alleima develops tubular products for applications such as hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, concentrated solar power, geothermal energy, offshore wind, and bioenergy. We use approximately 80% recycled materials and more than 96% fossil-free electricity. We are committed to reducing water usage, careful chemical management, and the effective use of by-products such as process gases.

We are committed to sustainable procurement practices and strive to ensure that all our suppliers comply with the Alleima Supplier Code of Conduct.
