Request for Expressions of Interest for Offshore Wind Mauritius - deadline May 4
The Republic of Mauritius, which is highly dependent on diesel and coal imports for power, is committed to transitioning into a low carbon economy, leading towards sustainable development.
To this effect, the government has set up a target for increasing electricity generation from renewable energy sources to 35% by 2025.
A new institution, the Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has also been created for the promotion of Renewable Energy Technologies and to facilitate the implementation of projects.
The MRC is looking for reputable consultancy firms having past experience in development of offshore wind farms.
The consultant(s) must have extensive experience in collecting site data, conducting permitting processes, organizing social debates, preparing tender documents for procuring offshore wind turbines, and providing site supervisory services of similar projects elsewhere.
