International Business Research 2020 Malaysia & Vietnam

International Business Research (IBR) is a research project associated with the University of Groningen, set up and executed by senior students from the Faculty of Economics and Business.

IBR focuses on Dutch companies who recognize opportunities and want to exploit these in the growing markets of Malaysia and Vietnam. We offer tailor-made research with an economic and business approach against cost price. These can vary from a general market analysis to a detailed partner analysis. Additionally, we can bring you into contact with relevant parties. To ensure high quality research, three professors supervise the project. Local students support the Dutch students to reach the right contacts.

For more than 30 years, we have provided advice to a wide range and variety of companies in taking market entry decisions and in exploiting opportunities in the respective country. Furthermore we offer companies that are already active in de respective countries tailored research which helps them in their decision making process. In the general preparation phase, together with your company we will elaborate on these objectives. By doing so, we provide your company with a refreshing, innovative and unbiased look at company-specific research cases abroad.

Both Malaysia and Vietnam offer great opportunities when it comes to renewable energy and oil & gas. Vietnam is experiencing an increase in energy and electricity demand due to their growing population and business activities. Since the government actively supports renewable energy initiatives, this sector is becoming increasingly interesting for Dutch companies. Next to that, a free trade agreement was signed on the 30th of June 2019 between the EU and Vietnam which boosts the business activities and thus the demand for energy in Vietnam.

Likewise, the Malaysian government is investing in renewable energy at an increasing rate. Due to the execution of the Renewable Energy (RE) Act 2011 and the implementation of the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme, the country demonstrates an aim to explore and deploy RE as part of its national energy mix. Moreover, Malaysia aims to have 20% of its energy coming from RE generation in 2025.

Both countries indicate a growing interest in sustainability in the energy sector and express a desire to gain expertise on this topic. This creates a lot of opportunities for Dutch companies and institutions, which IBR can help to identify.
