Recently, SMST has mobilized their rental gangway with newly developed height adjustment system on board Multi Purpose Supply vessel (MPSV) Ievoli Amber of Marnavi Spa. The Italian shipping company is the first to use the gangway with height adjustment system that enables safe and efficient transfer of people and cargo in offshore wind parks with large differences in landing heights and also extreme heights. In the Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm, developed by Ailes Marines a company owned by Iberdrola, where the Ievoli Amber is operating the coming period, the new gangway system comes into its own perfectly.
Marnavi Spa awarded SMST the rental contract for the motion compensated gangway, the SMST Telescopic Access Bridge L-Series (TAB-L), for executing a walk-to-work charter for Van Oord in the first large-scale offshore wind farm in Brittany, for a term of 60 days. For working on various heights the gangway is placed on 7 stacking modules with incorporated height adjustment system. “In the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm we are challenged by high tidal differences and several landing heights. SMST is always looking for possibilities to serve the offshore market even better and the delivery of the new height adjustment system for Marnavi Spa came at the right time. “This development enables the gangway to vertically travel over a rail attached to the stacking modules, with a vertical stroke of up to 16 meter. Connections to offshore platforms can now be made with a large window of landing heights and comfortable crossing and maximum workability is possible at every level”, explains Jelle Dijk, Sales Manager at SMST, “With this expansion of our rental fleet, our gangways are ready for operations in every offshore wind park, anywhere in the world.
