When it is fully operational in 2023, the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 1,500 MW is the largest of its kind in the world. It will then have a sustainable electricity production that corresponds to the annual consumption of more than two million Dutch households.
After winning two subsidy-free tendering rounds in 2018 and 2019, Vattenfall has been granted the permits for the construction of Hollandse Kust Zuid. To optimize the development process, the two projects have been combined into one wind farm.
An important tool to solve climate change is the electrification of transport, heating and industrial processes using fossil-free electricity.

Moreover, the final investment decision shows that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, we are still as determined to enable fossil-free living within one generation,” says Vattenfalls CEO Magnus Hall.

Vattenfall works with the following suppliers: Siemens Gamesa, Sif Group, TKF, Prysmian, Subsea 7 and Swire Blue Ocean. Striking: the majority of them are not established in the Netherlands.
The offshore construction on the project is expected to start in 2021.
