Navingo Career Event offered a sea of innovation and experiences

What is it like to work in an innovative sector? That’s something you have to experience yourself. And that is exactly what happened on Thursday the 23rd of May during the thirteenth edition of the Navingo Career Event at RDM Rotterdam – Onderzeebootloods. Companies from the maritime, offshore and energy sector presented themselves through vacancies, presentations, workshops and experiences to jobseekers and interested visitors from the Netherlands and abroad.

Several companies such as Shell, DEME Offshore, Feadship, Royal IHC, Multraship & Towage, Tennet, Rotterdam World Gateway and many others showed all their career possibilities in this sector and were searching for potential employees.

Innovative character
When presenting the career options, the innovative character of the sector cannot be missed. The day was kicked off with a pitching and networking breakfast. After that, the exhibition floor flooded with visitors who had interesting meetings and promising conversations with the companies present. “Thanks to the informal feel of the event you can easily approach companies”, one visitor commented.

“This is where it happens”
During skill-sessions visitors were able to develop their expertise in machine learning and pitching for a job. Also, various relevant topics were discussed, such as the Internet of Things with Microsoft, and the possibilities sustainability offers with amongst others Van Oord and Erasmus University. Moreover, visitors were able to board vessels of Nederlands Loodwezen and Damen Shipyards Group. “This is not your average event, that’s what makes it so good. This is where it happens”, said one of the visitors on board of the pilot vessel. “Now my mind is made up, I want to be a pilot.”

Falling into place
Not only during this event but throughout the entire year Navingo Career and its partners take action to make sure a wide audience becomes aware of the career opportunities and innovations that take place in the maritime, offshore and energy sector. “Nowadays, many encounters take place online, but it was great to see the interaction and dynamics today at the Navingo Career Event, which really brings the sector to life”, says Anne Visser, Business Unit Manager of Navingo Career enthusiastically. This summer, the date for the fourteenth edition is announced. Stay up to date through www.NavingoCareer.com.
