Solidd Steel Structures has been chosen by Ballast Nedam as project partner for the Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm project. This makes Solidd responsible for the design, production, supply and installation of secondary foundation elements as well as temporary support constructions such as the hydro hammer transport frames.
Wind farm Maasvlakte 2
The Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm is being built on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat. In total, there will be ten wind turbines on concrete foundations constructed on the hard seawall, and twelve wind turbines on monopile foundations on the soft seawall (the beach). The total capacity of the project is 110.6 megawatt. The electricity generated by the wind farm is supplied directly to Rijkswaterstaat. In order to meet climate objectives, the energy generated will contribute to the power supply of bridges, locks, pumping stations and offices, amongst other things.
Cooperation
Eneco is the project developer, Ballast Nedam is the main contractor for the construction of the foundations and cables. Ballast Nedam chose Solidd as the partner to make the twelve offshore foundations compatible with internal and external foundation elements for the installation of the land wind turbines.
Jan Willem Stob, Managing Director of Solidd: “We are proud that Ballast Nedam has chosen us as a project partner for this ambitious project based upon our collaboration proposal. Once again, we can conclude that clients see the added value in offering a turnkey concept: Solidd is essentially a project organization with its own steel production facility. Our range of activities spans across from design and engineering through to installation on location. The Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm project is not only a perfect match for our many years of experience and expertise, but also for our ambition: in addition to our projects for the infrastructure and industry markets, focus on the growing offshore wind industry, where there is a strong demand for project partners. “
Start of activities
The Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm project started for Solidd at the beginning of 2022. At the moment the final touches are being made to the technical design of the structures, after which the manufacturing phase will commence. The installation work is due to start on location in April.
