Final call for participation: Rio Oil & Gas 2018

September 24 - 27 | Rio de Janeiro

We unfortunately had to renounce our participation in Rio Oil & Gas 2018 because we didn’t receive the minimum number of registrations. However keep an eye on the IRO calendar for OTC Brasil in 2019!

IRO invites you to participate in the Holland pavilion at the Rio Oil & Gas 2018, taking place from 24-27 September 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

With the slogan ‘Energy to transform’ Rio Oil & Gas has a strong focus on the industry’s recovering scenario, with the recovery of oil prices and scheduled new auctions for 2018 and 2019.

This leading oil and gas event in Latin America is organised every two years by the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) and will take place at Riocentro Convention Center.

A FEW REASONS WHY TO ATTEND:

Developments in Brazil’s (offshore) energy sector continue in the ‘right’ direction. The last tender round was very successful. We name a few:

  • Brazil’s 15th Bidding Round raised over USD$2.4 billion – this sets a new record (largest total signing bonus in Brazil’s history) for Brazil’s auctions. According to the Brazilian National Petroleum Agency, the round will generate investments of USD$361.6 million in the first/exploration phase of the concession contracts alone.
  • European oil giants Statoil and Shell won four offshore blocks each, in the Campos and Potiguar basins, in this latest deep-water bid round.
  • Shell secured one exploration block on its own, and three in joint-bids with Chevron Brazil, Petrobras, and Petrogal Brasil. Of the newly acquired blocks, Shell will operate two. It brings Shell’s total operated presence offshore Brazil to 18 blocks.

These developments bring plenty of opportunities in the energy sector for international companies, especially for Dutch companies, who add value in this regard.
