Meeting Floating Wind in Scheveningen

Scheveningen

Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) is complimentary to Bottom Fixed Offshore Wind (BFOW) and holds the key to an inexhaustible resource potential in Europe as 80% of all the offshore wind resource is located in waters 60 m and deeper in European seas, where traditional BFOW is not economically attractive. While FOW technology was previously confined to R&D, the technology has developed significantly in recent years, and FOW is now ready to be integrated into the energy market (WindEurope Floating Offshore Wind Vision Statement, June 2017 – full report here)

We have the pleasure to invite you to a joint NWEA/HHWE/IRO member meeting on the subject of Floating Wind, that will take place in Scheveningen on Thursday 22 November 2018.

The set-up of this meeting is aimed at providing a global overview of current and future project developments in Floating Wind (by Erik Rijkers, Quest Floating Wind Energy, LLC (Q FWE)), to give an insight in supply chain opportunities (by Bruno Geschier, Ideol/Task Force Floating Wind WindEurope) and to hear experiences from a contractor’s perspective on the do’s and don’ts in this market segment (SBM Offshore). After the plenary part of the meeting, we will open a “market place” (or mini-exhibition) that provides a podium to companies to present their proposition for Floating Wind and to interact with the participants, while enjoying network drinks and freshly caught snacks from Scheveningen harbour.
Ultimately, the goal of the meeting is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on this market segment & technologies and to support and reinforce the network and synergies within the Floating Wind supply chain.
