As the Balance of Plant contractor, Van Oord was responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter array cables and offshore substation. The Aeolus was deployed for the transport and installation of the wind turbines. In January, Van Oord installed the last of 31 monopiles. Cable installation vessel Nexus and trencher Dig-It completed the installation and burial of more than 40 kilometres of inter array cables in July.
The Deutsche Bucht project reached another great achievement with the installation of the 31 wind turbines. We are proud of the Deutsche Bucht project team and their partners contributing to the rapid construction of the wind farm.
Jens Poulsen, Project Director Northland Deutsche Bucht
Installation and cabling of the two Mono Bucket foundations and their turbines are planned for the fourth quarter this year. Upon completion of the project, the 269MW wind farm will supply enough renewable energy to meet the needs of approximately 328,000 households per year. First turbines are delivering power since end of July. The Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm, owned by Northland Power, will contribute to Germany’s renewable energy transition.
