OTC 2019: Focus on the future

From 6 May to 9 May 2019, offshore energy professionals from all over the world gathered in Houston, USA, at the annual conference and exhibition Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). This year almost 60,000 attendees from over 100 countries and more than 2,300 exhibiting companies from 40-plus countries showcased the future of offshore activities. Interesting to know: international companies made up 52% of total exhibitors!

This year has been unparalleled in terms of showcasing the new technology that is driving the offshore energy industry, both in efficiency and innovative solutions. Even fourteen sessions were dedicated to offshore renewable.

Fruitful conversations at the Holland Pavilion

Traditionally we have one of the largest pavilions, representing an impressive range of Dutch pride companies. All connected  by the fact of all working in the offshore energy sector, the more than 40 exhibitors in the 1000 square meter Holland Pavilion represented a wide range of offshore products and services, varying from shipbuilding to offshore engineering. They were all presented in the special OTC 2019 edition of the magazine Offshore Holland.

Although the number of visitors was slightly less than in 2018, the quality level of the visitors at the Holland Pavilion was very good. Lots of good conversations took place at the Dutch stands, even on of the participating companies sold two of his products on the spot!  Overall OTC 2019 was well received by both exhibitors as well as visitors.

Where networking meets art

The traditional Holland Network Reception in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on Monday evening 6 May was very well attended. More than 330 guests were welcomed this evening. The guest list comprised a good representation of guests from the Netherlands, the Dutch Embassy in Washington, the Consulate and NBSO in Houston, as well as many guests from international institutions such as government representations and global oil & gas companies. In addition to networking in this perfect setting, our guests could also enjoy the art in the museum.

Subsidy for the Holland Networking Reception at OTC 2019 was provided by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Top Sector Water & Maritiem and obtained with the support of the Trade Council of Maritime by Holland (Nederland Maritiem Land).

Prior to the start of OTC a new tradition was born! Navingo and IRO organised the OTC sailingevent on Sunday 5 May. Informal networking on the water!

We would like to thank all involved for making this year’s OTC a success again!
